Post Surgical Care: What to do After Surgery

What happens after cosmetic surgery ?

These are some medical recommendations for your post surgical care journey, but remember to follow your doctor’s Instructions on your recovery process so you can get optimal results.

Rest for the first 24-48 hours after surgery. Sleep on your back tiled at a 45 or 30 degree angle for two weeks. Do NOT sleep on your stomach for at least 4 weeks after surgery.

You can shower when your doctor recommends it. Avoid using sponges for a few weeks.

Walk every 2 hours for 5 to 10 minutes to avoid blood clots. No major training, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, or exercising. Do NOT lift more than five pounds for three weeks after surgery.

Patients must have 10 to 15 massages after surgery. The more massages are done, the better the results will be.

For optimal results, use a compression garment specifically designed for post-care for at least 3 months. This contributes to decrease swelling and helps contour the body.

Hydrate and consume protein after surgery. Have a meal before any pain killer or antibiotics. Avoid alcoholic drinks for some weeks.

No Smoking

Don't smoke or be near smokers, as well as don't consume any nicotine products. Smoking interferes with the healing process.

You must follow your doctor's specific instructions. If you have any doubt or questions you can call the number your doctor provides after surgery.
